The (convenience) food post

A lot of people know that I don't cook very often, so I get the question of "What do you usually eat then?" all the time. So what do I eat (besides instant ramen)? Stuff that can be easily prepared (boiled, microwaved, or baked), usually frozen. I think I have enough food in the freezer that can last me a whole month! I've decided to write this up cos' contrary to common believe, some of these do taste pretty good. Here's what I have in the fridge right now (rating is on a 5-point scale, and strictly based on my personal taste):

Salt Cod Brandade! Yum!

This week and next week is DineLA Restaurant Week. Lots of famous restaurants are offering prix-fixe lunches and dinners at great prices. I went to Vertical last night and had one of the best dishes I had in a while (okay, besides that foie gras I had the other day at La Cachette-not part of the prix-fixe but I ordered it anyway). It's an appetizer called Salt Cod Brandade. Never had this dish before, so I didn't know what to expect, but me and my friend were very pleasantly surprised by it. It was not overly salty, and it blends perfectly with the crunchy bread. Soooo good! Google "Salt Cod Brandade" for recipes!

Kyochon

After reading many reviews about Kyochon, I finally decided to give it a try (since I pass by it almost everyday anyway). I just got a medium order of their original wings to go. The wings comes packaged nicely in a cute little box, and there are about 15 small pieces of wings and drumettes in it. Too bad I forgot to take a picture before I ate it! :P I'll spare you with the details of the "remains" though.

Each order also comes with a pack of pickled daikon. I didn't try it myself since I hate everything pickled, but I've heard they are good. As for the wings itself, the flavor is not bad. It's a garlicky kind of flavor (and I didn't even like garlic that much), but it's definitely not bad. However, since I didn't get to eat it till more than half an hour later after I've picked it up, it obviously got cold a little bit... might be better to just eat there unless you can get home quickly. I'll give it a 3.5/5 for the flavor. The spicy wings seems to be popular too if you can handle spicy Korean food. I think I'll hit Bon Chon soon just to see if they're any different. One last thing about Kyochon (WARNING): that parking is a MADHOUSE!!!
